200 ATS Technicians Graduate to Mechanic Roles Since Program Inception
News Blog – Everett, Washington (October 17, 2024) – Aviation Technical Services (ATS), an award-winning provider of airframe MRO and component support services, recently celebrated a milestone with its Apprenticeship Program. Launched in 2019 and operated out of its Everett, WA and Kansas City, MO hangar locations, the program started as a vision of Matt Yerbic, ATS’s former CEO and now Executive Board Chairperson.
“The shortage of experienced, certificated aviation maintenance mechanics has been an element of concern surrounding the aerospace industry for decades and ATS is proud to have built an on-site program that is working,” stated Seth Jacobsen, ATS Director of Technical Training. The Apprenticeship Program is part of the ATS Academy which also offers in depth technical training and lifelong learning curriculum for employees.
Great care is taken to ensure new technicians learn both in the classroom as well as alongside experienced mechanics on aircraft. ATS’s classroom environment includes five instructors, one who has been with the program since its inception, building a culture of continuity and camaraderie. Participants are paid throughout the duration of the approximately 18 month program and have the option to test to become a certificated mechanic upon completion.
ATS recently held a graduation ceremony at its Everett, WA location to honor the first 20 graduates of 2024. All had been promoted to mechanic roles earlier in the year but were presented certificates and challenge coins to commemorate their accomplishments during the celebration.
